Road Side Breakdown - Renewal

I've had my renewal come through with Britannia = £149.00

Comprehensive Cover = £99.95
£Admin Charge = £5.00
Xtend Cover for Mechanical breakdown = £45.00

= £149.00

Anyone know if the renewal price can be beaten? ;)

My car insurance is with RAC, but not due for renewal until June.

I pay under £40 for Breakdown cover for me and my wife in any car.

Oh I see its some type of warranty, ditch it! it has all the normal exclusions for these rip of policys.

I thought I'd be covered for parts & labour in the event they couldn't repair the car at the roadside

Any reason why First Call is so cheap compared to Britannia / AA / RAC?

Firstly to quote the article " It's worth noting though that First Call's feedback is patchy."

Its cheaper because the service is not the same. they won't come out to lost /locked in keys I know AA will, they won't come out to miss fueling or run out of fuel.

Also I they dont spend any money on advertising!

I have the Autoaid policy are would highly recomend as does the article you just have to claim back your fees for recovery but they pay out very quickly. (I am not sure if they cover the examples above but they would send some one just you might not be covered.

Sound like you have decided agaist this policy (which is a good thing) just look at he exclusions the main one being fair wear and tear, which would exclude mosthings that a car would breakdown from. ie cam belt clutch etc etc.
