Hi
I would like to use my sky remote for the tv but i have lost the sky instructions. My sky system is about 6 years old and my TV is a samsung plano and is about 3 years old.
Any advise on how to do this would be great as it will mean one less remote to try and find.
Thanks
Suzanna

The 4 digit code for Samsung is 0060
If you do the following:
1. Turn on your TV.
2. Press tv on your Sky remote control.
3. Hold down select and the red button together for about two seconds, until the red light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
4. Press tv on your Sky remote control again.
5. Key in the Brand Set code for your brand of TV (0060 for Samsung) then press select. The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
If the light blinks once only, re check the code for your TV and start again at step 1.
6. Press the on/off button (power-top right button on your Sky remote control).
If your TV switched off, press select . The light on the Sky remote control blinks twice.
If your TV did not switch off, press tv , then press the on/off button. Repeat this (press tv , then on/off) until your TV turns off, then press select.
If the light on your Sky remote control blinks three times, your Sky digibox has checked all the possible settings for the code you used. Check that you have the right 4 digit code and start again at step 1.0 -

Hi Suzanna,
DId you get any blinking from the remote where described in the instructions? This is very importent.
Especially point 3, holding down the Select and Red button at the same time for a few seconds (until blinking from remote)0 -
Hi
I held down the select and red buttons until it blinked twice but when i typed in the 0060 code it only blinked once so guessed it needed a different code. I did try it with some 3 digit codes from that website but it did not blink at all when i typed the 3 digit code, so it must be a 4 digit one (hope that makes sense)

0060 is the Samsung code which would have been quicker ;-)
There is a step and set method which steps through the id's of the remote, a little time consuming tho'
1. First Set the remote control to TV Mode, then turn on the TV that you want to operate.
2. Press and hold the <<Select>> and <<Red>> keys simultaneously on the remote control for a minimum of 1.5 seconds, until the LED blinks twice.
3. Press and release the <TV> key.
4. Press the 4 digit code for the brand that you want the step for, if the code exists the LED blinks twice, if not the LED blinks one long blink and exits the Set-up mode.
5. Press the <On/Off> key.
6. If the TV turns off press <Select> to set the remote control to the ID. The LED will blink twice to confirm setting.
If the TV does not react, press the <TV> key and repeat from step 5.0 -
Hi
It still dosnt work,at step 4 i think it only blinks once (its quite quick) when i get to step 5 do i just keep pressing the tv then on/off button until it finds the code and thats why its time consuming? or does it stop at step 4 because it only blinks once?
sorry

Yes, the repeating of step 5 is the time consuming bit...0 -
i have been pressing the tv and on/off button for 23 minutes and my fingers hurt. Do you think that it may because i have a old sky system and a newer TV? Also my sky is not plugged into the telephone socket (we had a move around of furniture 5 years ago and the line dosnt reach) would this have a effect?
Thanks

Better stop pressing that button for now ;-)
The telephone line connection is not relevant at all. It may be related to the age of the remote itself, these are preset with id's for manufacturers.
There is a database held on chip, in the remote control, which holds the IR codes for around 90 to 92% of TV manufacturers.
The 4 digit code identifies the make/manufacturer. All individual codes stored for each manufacturer are identified by a 3 digit code. As Samsung have been about for many years, I thought the 4 digit code would have been the best, you could try some of the 3 digit codes for specific Samsung models?

I will have a look to see if the Samsung plano you mention is not the same as other Samsungs.
Hope the feeling comes back to your fingers soon :-)0
