Mumoftwo - what model is your car? A 4 year old car shouldn't need the radiator replacing! And please don't tell me the garage was one of two well known chains that have been known to 'make' up repairs. Most cars are actually fairly cheap and easy to sort yourself - I might be able to help.

I can't help thinking how the world of financing has changed. Shortly after we got married over 40 years ago, the engine on our troublesome little car blew up while we were away on holiday. As we had no spare cash I phoned up our bank manager (whose name I actually knew) on a reverse charge call and asked for an overdraft to fund the repairs. And he gave it to me! These days I'd have to ring an anonymous call centre in India and there's probably no way the bank would dig me out of that hole without selling my life away.

and it makes you stronger once you have gone through the mill doesnt it ?With each other to help, we will get through these days and we will learn from it.

We have always said that...we got through the first few years of our relationship whilst going through real difficulty and if we can do that, we can do anything....

We're healthy and we're happy, we're not wealthy but two out of three ain't bad :D

  • I've always been what other people call wacky(I'm told by those that know me it's the old hippy in me,that refuses to go away)I think I'm normal but then who am I to say.I know one thing I'm now at an age,53 when I could'nt care less what people think of me.Life's just too short to worry about things like that.

You make me think of Jenny Joseph, http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/warning/ I love this poem and the last few lines....:rotfl:

Happy and healthy's good. It's all we've ever wanted.
I come from a family who worship money and we are and always have been the poor relations. My family just can't understand why we've always been so happy with our lot when compared to them we have so little.
We have lots of love between us as a couple and an immediate family and that gets us through all the highs and the lows.
Money helps but it is'nt everything.

how strange you should say that, this is the exact same poem my daughter had framed for me.She said when reading it "that'll be my mum in a few years".

Fiat punto, the main mot repair is the shock absorber brushes are cracked  my front windscreen washers don't work properly and my horn is not working, which I told them to fix before the MOT and they didn't do. And it was Arnold Clark. Any help will be greatly received! :T Thank you. Could I have it retested somewhere else?
