Internet buying to benefit charities

Options
Hello

Does anyone know anything about how to set up one of those site which if you buy from certain stores online, a charity can benefit?

I noticed my daughters school has now set up a site which includes HMV, + other stores, where they get ££ for purchases through the site.

Thanks for any advice.

I work for a charity and this could be really useful in raising much needed funds.

They all basically work on the same lines. I have no experience of them so I would know about any of but they include http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk and then there is http://www.everyclick.com which is a charity search engine.
  • A couple of years ago I was aware of one of these sites set up and run by some people in Winchester. Unfortunately some of their biggest sellers, such as Amazon, decided to pull out of that market space and they closed down. They had a couple of paid staff, which meant it had to generate enough income to pay them before making charitable donations.
The model might still work if run by volunteers.

It would be better to run it as a business. Things like that do work but they are either commercial or run by one of the big charities. The thing is the site get's commissions for sales.

    Hi
our smallish charity has been registered with Easy fundraising for about 2 years now - it is VERY easy and hassle free and we have raised over £600 in that time- it is literally money for nothing!
they send is a cheque every quarter and have a HUGE range of "shops" including e bay and amazon
I would say DEFINITELY worth registering with them
