Reclaim £1000 deposit back from LEB from 30 Years ago!!!!!
Hello All,
Im new to this site so hi to everybody.
I will try to make this as simple as i can. It goes back 30 years when my late father had a commercial building. When I asked for the London Electricity Board to supply us with Electric my Father had to pay them a £1000 deposit which they would hold on an account with 4% per year. Well, my father passed away and we have never had any moneys back from LEB who now are no longer LEB but EDF energy. Any help to where to start my claim or just some information would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks

Welcome to the forum.
The problem you face is that EDF will have no idea if the deposit was repaid or not. They are not obliged to keep records that long and unless you have up to date annual statements, where is the proof?
For instance over the years we all have paid deposits for many items/services. We simply cannot approach a company and claim that we should get that deposit back.
It is perhaps worth a letter to EDF, but don't make lawyers rich by chasing the claim would be my advice.0 -
Thanks Cardew,
I know there is a receipt that I got at the time, I just need to find that to have any chance of getting the money back0
