Allowing sick people on a plane

Another thread brought this to mind but I did not want to hijack that thread.
Last year I went to the loo in the airport and there was a man being very sick in one of the toilets. When we went to check-in we had to complete a form saying that we had not had any vomiting or squits (technical term since I have no idea how to spell the dia... word).
I noticed the same man from the loos in the queue completing the form and wondered what he put on it. What would you do?

I wouldn't say I was healthy if I wasn't! It can't be very nice flying when unwell especially having to make repeated trips to the bathroom!
I guess it depends on why you are being sick? I guess if you have had a bad journey to the airport and are travelsick you are obviously not contigious. The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0 -
i had to fly home once, after having some very bad mayonnaise in spain, spent the whole 2 hours at the airport before flying on the toilet, with diahorea and being sick, went through check in, (no body asked if i was ill) told the airstewardess how gave me a seat by the loo on the plane and alos gave me a tablet. i slept the whole way home, undisturbed, until i was driving home and threw up out the car window! just thought id share that with you all!
no body asked me , but depending what the outcome would be (ie would i have to pay to go on another flight) i would tell them0 -
I've never been asked to sign a form....
is that normal?
Reminds me of when I had a sore throat just before leaving Canada and some friends gave me zinc tablets, telling me they were all natural, I could take as many as I wanted. They were very soothing so I was eating them like sweeties.
What they didn't tell me - and I'm sure they are innocent in this - that they were full of phenylenaline (or however you spell it!) which has laxative side effects... There was me, plus two kids under five, unable to leave the loo in Toronto airport. :rotfl: :rotfl: Only just managed to get on the flight and sit out the six hours.0 -
It's a basic PH measure to prevent international transmission of infections. Not all cases of D&V / respiratory symptoms are caused by pathogens but who's going to make the differential diagnosis on a plane?? The worst that can happen is that you may be prevented from boarding the flight (in practice hardly happens but may change in the event of a flu pandemic), the bst that noting this info may help with contact tracing.
I have developed a cold before on a 14hr flight and it was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I have ever been through.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I was being very sick going from New York to Oregon via Salt Lake city, lots of vomitting but wasnt sure if it was down to hot and cramped flight or something I had eaten, didn't get asked to fill in any forms though.
It is really not nice being sick on a plane, especially the really tiny one that took us from Salt Lake city to Oregon! There was only about 10 seats or something and the toilet was so small, im only 5.4 but I couldnt even kneel down. Then everyone turned to stare at me each time I walked out of the loo, not sure if they heard!0 -
i've flown plenty of times and never ever been asked to fill in a form regarding my health, and whether i'm !!!!!!!! or puking... i find that odd rather than someone bending the truth..0

I have no idea, did not see him after that.LeedsBurlesque wrote: »What we are dying to know though....did the man with the form get on the plane?
The form seemed to concentrate on the possibility of Norovirus. It is supposed to be very nasty, more common than the cold and spreads like wildfire.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good

I have been asked to complete the health declaration about V&D before boarding a cruise, but never just a flight.0
