Student Discount

My daughter who is 18 has a learning difficulty-not obvious to look at her. She has just been awarded a disabled bus pass and has just claimed ESA. Has anyone tried to get student discount for someone who isn't a student? I don't feel she should be discriminated against because she isn't able to study. I don't want to embarass her in a shop being refused for the discount, but I feel she should get the discount on producing her bus pass. Anyone aware of shops that would discount products for her? Thanks

erm, student discounts are for students just like disabled peoples discounts (like the bus pass) are for disabled people.

Students may get discounts but unless they are also disabled they cannot claim for any state benefits so it sort of evens itself out. Also not all 18 year olds choose to be students anyway.

I should get a disabled bus pass. I shouldn't be discriminated against because I am not able to be disabled!!

There are a number of discount schemes for disabled people, many cinemas and theatres have them, there are disabled rail cards, and probably plenty of others

It is stupid thoughts like this that give us Disabled People a bad image, there are plenty of students in our local college with Learning Dificulties, some with Very Severe Learning Dificulties who hold Student I.D. Cards and can use them for a valid Student Discount in many shops, your daughter is NOT ENTITLED and is NOT being discriminated against, this is a terrible thing to claim.
