Family and Friends Rail Tickets and Railcard
Options
A few weeks ago I bought rail tickets online for my family (2 adults and a child) and entered that I had a Family and Friends Railcard to get the discount.
I had the intention to subsequently purchase the railcard in time for the journey at the end of Feb, but the tickets arrived without any name on the actual tickets and I wondered if I borrow a colleagues F&F railcard how will they know its not my railcard ? Does the train conductor ask for other proof that my name is the same as the one on the railcard ?

I've never known them ask for proof but they are entitled to if suspicious0

Yes, many inspectors will check ( I know some don't) and if you are found out, you will not only face a possible prosecution, but your friend's Railcard will be forfeited too. It should be siezed by the inspector.
Buy your own Railcard, for the sake of £24 valid for the next 12 months you can enjoy the benefits yourself then0 -
If you are travelling at the end of Feb you have enough time to purchase one of your own, can be done online or at a station.I have started entering competitions, lets see If I can win

Thank you for your responses, I always planned to buy the rail card but I was surprised at the apparent lack of cross checking between the discounted tickets and the rail card.
I would have thought that when you bought online they would ask for the rail card number and print the number on the tickets to 'tie' the 2 items together.0 -
i think that you can have about 6 peoples name on the family and friends railcard so maybe worth asking a friend if they want to share if you aren't going to use it that much.January Grocery 11/3740

No. you can put 2 adult names on the card - and they don't need to be related - it is an idea if your friend has not already filled that space.
I've never been asked for ID, in 20 years of using a Family Railcard, btw.0 -

Is it in the Ts&Cs that you have to carry proof of ID to present with the railcard? I must admit I've never known anyone (either FF or Senior rcd, neither of which have a photo attached, unlike YP) to be asked for anything, so you should be ok.0
