I wanted to put £4.99 for a book and heavy acrylic juggling ball that will cost that much to to safely package and post but I was restricted to £4.00 which means I will lose money from the item price now. It seems unfair, surely if someone is happy to pay the postage then that up to them?
Just increase the starting price to cover the extra costs? Instead of listing at 99p and 4.99 P&P, list it at £2 and £4.00 P&P...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

This is down to eBay changing rules imho. On this same forum... I just posted on a scam about someone sending me a parcel with nothing in it, yet it was recorded signed for.. so I have no leg to stand on, thanks to this "scam" I lost money, and the other person gained. eBay got their fee's, Paypal got theirs. end of story.
Putting this into another perspective, does anybody think that it is the big diamond powersellers that pull stunts like this, or the smaller "bedroom entrepreneur"?
When I hear about these type of scams, I can fully understand why ebay is focusing more on established, high volume sellers. I can't ever see Dell, Buy.com, Argos etc deliberately sending out empty packages.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

Your thread's not dead yet - it's not 'end of story' yet unless you give up.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I sold one of my daughters tops on eBay a few weeks ago, got £5 for it, sent it non recorded, never heard a word from the buyer, just I checked my email and the buyer has asked her bank to reverse the payment! Paypal are asking for a tracking number etc which of course I don't have.
Checking her feedback she has 3 different "this comment was removed by ebay" positives from sellers so I wonder if she's been doing this when she buys things? Why can't sellers be allowed to warm other sellers that this is going on by leaving a neg?0 -

If this is a fraudulent use of a card claim then your proof of posting is enough to defend your money. If these 3 sellers had completed unpiad item strikes against the "buyer" then the chances are they would not have been able to make a purchase from you in the first place.
Negs never stopped dodgy buyers from continuing to make purchases, unpaid strikes do - and they work very well in my experience.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
^^^ can I do an unpaid item strike if she HAS actually paid? I can see me getting in trouble with eBay if I give her a strike and she enters her PP transaction number!0

If the payment has subsequently been reversed, then yes you can open an unpaid item dispute. If they do enter the PP number, then it will show as being reversed - she would have to provide a transaction number that has properly cleared into your account.
If it is a genuine error on the buyers part, then an open dispute will focus their mind a little more.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
It DID clear though, it was 2 weeks ago, now it has been reversed, does this count?0

Thanks for some very interesting replies, appreciated to know its not just me then! I had heard of Freecycle and just off to find out more, but I am very interested in Gumtree whom I had never heard of until this thread - so thanks for the heads-up!0
