Best accomodation in Manchester University

Can anyone share experiences of accomodation (on campus) or very near, for an undergraduate, at Manchester University as most of them seem ok.

Where are the nicest, we would like en-suite. not too far from the uni although she does not mind walking.

Which ones are the grottiest?

Thanks

  • depends what campus you are studying at... There's different parts of the university all over manchester stretching all the way to cheshire and crewe.

You say "we"; are you a student couple?
  • I'm in Manchester for my 3rd and final year, although it is at MMU. When it comes to accommodation I would say it doesn't matter which are the grottiest or cleanest, as all of em get terrible! All student accom aren't great, so I would suggest getting one which is close to stuff and has a social atmosphere! When I say it doesn't matter where you stay, it really doesn't!!!

they have an open day when you can go and look at it all. might be the best way as often it's all down to personal choice

  • are you talking about proper manchester or ex-poly manchester?

One bit of advice is stay away from
Mcr Property Group as they are all but scam artists - I ended up taking them to court over a couple of issues. They own/run the halls off chester street (just off Oxford street) and have an office there - whatever you do, avoid them.

I live in Didsbury, its the best out a bad bunch of the South Manchester areas and the campus and halls here are fab too. Its very expensive though but you do get what you pay for imho, our house is massive, we live on a nice private road and its a five minute walk to my campus.

Some halls are specific to Uni but I have freinds in Cambridge, Cosmopolitan and Wilmslow Park and they do enjoy it. However the rooms are tiny and it can be very noisy.
