Do you work part time? Some questions?

Hi all,

Am being rather nosey. I am currently filling out a part time job application and wondered what kinds of jobs and how many hours other students work.

It would be good to know:
1) how many hours are you currently in Uni
2)how many hours you work part time at paid employment
3)what sort of job do you do

For me:
1) 12 hours
2)approx 10-20hours as varies
3)I have worked before in a cafe but am just applying for a support workers job in supported living.

Cheers Squirrel

    1) 12 hours
    2) Depends - its a casual job. This month I have worked around 15/16. But at £7.31 its easy money. On average I only work about 4-6 hours a month lol
    3) Student Ambassadoring. Last 2 weeks I have been on phones phoning graduates for the graduate survey. Sometimes open days, school visits etc.
  • Oh yes I forgot that sometimes I help out at Uni on interview days....only sporadic but as you said Lokolo they pay £7 here so is good money and fun too!!!!!

I used to do 16 hrs a week when I was in uni around 15hrs/week but this is particulary heavy semester so I've had to cut down to 8hrs (I'm doing pretty much 9-5 at uni). And I work in Tesco! Decent pay, and as you can see they are quite flexible with the hours. Still glad I cut down though

I need a job so bad :( I got made redundant last July! And since then i've applied for thousands of positions, and not heard back from a single one.

  • Sorry to hear you have been unsuccessful finding a job.

From experience I know there are always loads going in social care, particularly residential if you fancy it. There are always lots of different shifts too so fits in well with study.

In my local paper there were probably a quarter in this field out of the total number of jobs going.

I'm in uni 9-5 monday to thursday, work 16 hours at asda at the weekend.
  • I'm at uni 12 hours a week
I work 10 hours for temporary employer - long term but can be terminated by either party at any time (National Housebuilder - website and in-house system co-ordinator) This is where I worked full time before uni.

I am a Body Shop at Home Consultant and make about £70 per month if I do 2 parties (would do more if lost above job)

I am a student ambassador but haven't done any hours since October, (they only seem to want people for when I'm in lessons!)

Also tried working 10-6 on a Sunday but I never got to see my partner who was working mon-fri at the time.

    1) I was in uni 3 full days and 1 half day (in for the afternoon).
    2) I worked between 16-24 hours a week (always worked my day off, also worked most saturdays, some sundays and the odd evening)
    3) I worked at my local football club. Worked in the shop, in the box office and within the media department doing design work (this was freelance and so done during my evenings when I wasnt at work)
