There is some law in Germany about the resale of cosmetics, and I know a lot of cosmetic sellers will state on their listings that they will not (read cannot) post to Germany. Although eBay prevents these listings from being displayed on the German site, they can not stop German residents from logging into the uk site.

eBay are not specific enough about allowing sellers to specify individual countries they will sell to. I am happy to post pretty much anything to anywhere, but given the choice I would block Italy and Malta based on previous failed sales and disproportionately high Item Not Received clams.

Where Malta falls down is the sheer cost of getting stuff there.

    Eager buyers though.

I went through a period of selling quite a bit to Malta, but haven't sent there now for months.

However I did have an issue with a buyer once who I suspect left me very poor stars and a positive that said something like very high postage costs would have been cheaper to fly home to UK and collect!

That was for a small lot of books where I actually hadn't listed to sell outside the UK due to the weight. The buyer had emailed me asking for a postal quote and permission to bid , so I gave her the weight and airmail cost (plus 50P packing charge) and she bid then demanded surface mail instead, which I refused.

Not by IBAN in euros. :) Great way to get paid!

For a Euros wire transfer payment UK Banks will be charge both to receive the payment (£7 for Natwest) and a currency conversion fee of about 1% off market rates.

For £GBP International wire transfer payment Natwest charge £6 to receive it.

If you were not charged these fees then on a transfer then they were paid by the sender. Which is unusual on eBay - usually they just pay the sending fees.

I recently sold n item and for some resaon there were 3 bidders form germany and one of them won it. I was a bit dubious as it was a used item and he paid a lot more for it than it was worth but he paid via paypal within a day and left good feedback so assumed he was happy. maybe the exchange rate was good or something!
