To delete a word document

I sent a word document to another person.
Then deleted the folder it was in.
When I go into word this document appears on the right had side as a recent document.
How do I delete this from the list?
It wont open when I click on it.
If I right click on it cant get it to delete,it doesnt give me the option.
Any help I would be grateful of.

Your Windows system is keeping a list of recently used documents, and it is this that appears in your Word Recent Documents list.

If you want to clear the list of recently used documents, use Start/Settings/Taskbar & Start Menu/Start Menu Programs, then click the Clear button under Documents menu.
[NB This is the procedure for Windows 98SE - you may find that it varies slightly for other flavours of Windows]

Word normally only recognises the last x amount of documents you opened, so open a few more so it drops off the list
