carers made to work

hi just to let everyone know that i just recieved an email.....
News this month that the DWP plans to force the partners of the poorest sick and disabled claimants to carry out specific work-related activities, chosen by voluntary and private sector Pathways agencies, or lose benefits. It’s part of the provisions of the latest welfare reform bill that we’re still working our way through and one that has received little attention so far.
Pushing the partners of claimants, many of whom have caring responsibilities, into work would be a highly effective way of removing means-tested benefits from disabled claimants themselves. Another impressive bit of lateral thinking by Mr Purnell’s department.
 WHAT IS WRONG WITH THEM!! if the carers are going to be forced to carry out work activities then who's going to look after the disabled??

god this is scary cos like you say - if we are forced to work who looks after the person we are caring for? it takes me a lot of arranging just to get one day a week to go get shopping/do chores out of house/pay bills, etc.....even then i dont like leaving him too long with someone else as my other half feels uncomfy having anyone else look after him....
its about time this government sorted the spongers out and stopped picking on the weak and those who do actually need help...0 -
who was the email from? Dwp.
but given the mentality of nu labour not surprising. I'm a partner of a career amd i'm expecting the same thing sooner or later .0 -
where are they getting the jobs from!
Perhaps they would like me to buy a shed and stick my SIL in there -just like the old days for those with Learning Difficulties .
Well done Mr Brown-you idiot:j this money saving is such fun:T0 -
The email(I got it as well)was from benefits and work, and is quite disturbing.
The good news in the same email was that pathways to work is missing its targets by very very large margins and some of the private and voluntary organisations involved are therefore missing out on their fees to the extent that some are making staff redundant(oh the irony !),of course some pathways providers have also gone bust or have been chucked off the scheme for being economical with the truth(thats lying to you and me)0 -
surely carers work hard enough as it is!0

carers get hardly any money for doing a 24/7 job and a lot of carers dont even get paid.. my OH works so on his days off he cares for me and in between those times family and friends help out.
it wont be long before they decide all disabled people should hold down a full time job too the way their going lol.:rolleyes:always send a smile as it costs nothing..

I appreciate that there are scroungers out there who abuse the system but this will just cause more pain for those who truly need care rather then stop those that use it as a free ride.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

 One of Purnell’s predecessors at the Department for Work and Pensions, David Blunkett, is also in the news. He allegedly failed to declare a business trip to South Africa paid for by . . . A4E one of the big private sector Pathways companies. Blunkett also took around £30,00 in Directors fees from A4E last year according to the Observer.
Though it may be that Pathways providers will not be able to splash the cash on disgraced ex-DWP ministers for much longer. A freedom of information request has revealed that Pathways companies are missing their targets – and thus their fees - for getting claimants into work by a very, very wide margin indeed. One has even begun making staff redundant.
Other – cheerier - news includes the fact that Disability Alliance have had a change of heart and decided to tell people with learning difficulties that the DWP sometimes make mistakes and can be challenged.
this was also part of the same email....maybe this is why they want carers at work..more money for trips to south africa lolalways send a smile as it costs nothing..

last year i was drafted for an interview for the newdeal for partners programe , which was voluntary but the interview was not so I'm on the system .
The reason I belive they want more people back to work is they get more tax and will be able to pay off the bank bail out quicker the 2 generations or whatever it's going to be . Hence they are going to chase all in sundry both the worthy and thoses on Jsa etc0
