Hi

The problem has just started today, the comp shuts down for no reason whatsoever.

The whole system is switched off, when i try to restart it it wont restart unless i jiggle the power cable near the back of the comp tower.

Any ideas as to what may be the matter.

Tia

  • Maybe the cpu fan is blocked and the cpu is getting hot? It would shut your system down to prevent the cpu from burning out.

  • Hi
To find out if your system is overheating, download this little free program, its a temp monitor for your hd/cpu/motherboard and it can change your fans speeds.

    Hope this helps

if it re-occurs, blow out the debris from the motherboard, particularly round the CPU, also worth reseating RAM + Graphics cards while it's open

It wouldn't happen to be a dodgy power cable by and chance? Have you got a spare you could try using?
