I think I will do that. just got 2 big pots in asda this morning. There are no holes in the bottom. I take it I need to make drainage holes? And what is the easiest way to do this?
the only way I can think is to heat up a metal skewer on the hob and try to put that through.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

Yes they need holes, often pots have holes "marked" in the bottom, I drill mine out, but of course one does need a drill firstNumerus non sum0 -

yes, that will work so long as they are plastic, not pot! - But, the fumes stink, and are not very healthy, so do it outdoors if you can - wiggle the skewer about to make the holes big enough, and put several holes in each pot.0 -
Im sorry to hear about the cox's not doing well, I bought a cox tree, pot grown, from Homebase last month and we have planted it, along with a beth pear and a stella cherry. I might see if Lidl have any others left so Im not disappointed.
Other ways to knock holes through in plastic pots are a nail punch and a hammer but there is a risk of splitting. The drill works best. I wish they would just make them with the holes in!0 -
I made holes in my flexitubs by holding a lighter under a pair of scissors until they got hot and forcing them through . Because the scissors get wider - the further in you push them the bigger the hole you get.2009 - Attempting to grow my own Kitchen garden.....

I made my holes in the pot by heating an old sharp knife on the gas hob then pushing it through, worked a treat.0
