Hi susiesue
did the radiator ever work?
when you say it's not working, what do you actually mean? Is it getting warm at all or is it only getting warm in certailn places?
also, are the pipes intot he radiator warm, hot or cold?0 -
its cold all over. the pipe going into the rad is also cold. i really don't know how long it hasn't worked as i usually don't have it on in my bedroom-i thought i would treat myself when it was really cold the other week and then found it wasn't workingsusiesue

Put the heating on and then turn off all the radiators that are warming up and see what happens.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

This may seem obvious, so apologies if it is, but are both the valves either end of the radiator fully open. Other than that, it cold be a build up of !!!! in the pipes as the water has been standing in the feed for so long.
I had this problem a while ago, but if affected my whole system. I hadnt used my CH all through the summer and when I came to try and use it, the crud that had built up had jammed the main valve. Had to get a heating engineer in. He pumped some chemical into the system, and then came back a about week later to flush it out.... The slime that came out was horrendous!!!! Its been working fine ever since though, so it obviously did the trick. It only cost about £150 aswell, which I thought was quite reasonable...
Hope this helps.0 -
Has it got a thermostatic radiator valve (TRV) fitted?
I've seen a few of these over the past few weeks, the plunger sticks in the off position. If it has one fitted, remove the control knob, you may need to ease the plunger up, this can be done with a pair of pliers, but be carefull, it should lift without much force and will only travel a few millimetres.0 -
you can get the bottles of stuff to put through the system from B+Q. It about £14 and you put it in the tank (not the one that feeds your taps obviously!) It pushes through all the gunk and rubbish within a couple of days.
