Bailiff advise please

I am sorry but I have missed this question....however you have received EXCELLENT advice already !!!
Just to correct something. The purpose of the bailiff visit is to "levy upon goods" and the BAILIFF may charge a fee of £24.50 for "attending to levy where no levy was made" (ie: where nobody was at home) OR if the bailiff is able to levy then he can INSTEAD charge a levy fee but he CANNOT charge BOTH.
However, the important point that needs to be made is that MANY bailiff companies use the service of delivery guys to delivery these letters ....and they are NOT bailiffs. This would explain how you did not hear a bailiff come to your door. In this respect a big question mark needs to be made as to whether this supposed "levy" on your car was by a bailiff OR a delivery man !!!
This is VITALLY important as many such "levies" are invalid because they can only be made by using a CERTIFICATED BAILIFF !!!
I can assure you that if you had been visited by a CERTIFICATED BAILIFF, he would have made SURE that you heard him knocking. In fact, in some areas of london we are aware that many of these supposed "bailiffs" drive around in "pizza delivery" type bikes dropping letters through doors. They are NOT bailiffs.

That is a frightening thought.
Definitely worth checking to see that the 'bailiff' who 'placed the levy' on your car was, indeed, certificated, wanty.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Thanks, I'll send Herbie the chaps name and see how it turns out. Well, its the name that's printed on the letters anyway.
I didn't get to go to the appointment today with the council, they had to cancel because of a meeting, she only left me a voicemail so I've been ringing her all day trying to get an appointment made for tomorrow because I'm back at work on Thursday.
I had a scare today actually, there were two guys hanging round the house and then a guy in a berlingo type van came knocking on, I legged it upstairs trembling. Turns out he was a roofer  Don't know who the other 2 were though.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Just rememeber that you do not have to let them in even if they turn up. Leave them outside in the snow for a while and they will give up.
Just keep the windows and the doors locked. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
