My employer has announced a loss

A loss tbh means nothing, be very very very careful surrounding pay cuts.
It's far better for the employer to cut out the dead wood than across the board pay cuts."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
QUOTE REMOVED AS ABOVE
Which makes the rest of this post a bit odd
In your opinion.
Depends what the bosses think tbh.
As other have said making a loss is not the be all and end all, no-one may be losing their jobs but efficiencies are always welcomed0 -
Can anyone suggest any other incentives, to avoid paying tax..?
I've found the cycle to work scheme and childcare vouchers
I've also mentioned that there are software packages which reduce ink amounts used when printing (but keeping the same quality). Our cartidge expenses top £1000 per month, can anyone shed any light on these things?0 -

We still don't know the type of business, but printing seems important, or maybe that's just your department? This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
Paying tax is a legal requirement - what are you suggesting?
Do you need to print so much?0 -
Bob, Avoiding tax is OK. Evading is the illegal one. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Do you shake the ink cartridges when they show up as running low. We print an awful lot here at work (in my opinion) and regulary we get a toner low message. We take the cartridge out give it a good shake and can print for atleast another month on it. We do have a rule though 3 shakes and you're out so after the third time we send it off the cartridge recycling centre.
We also have a note at the bottom of anything we send via email. Saying "Think before you print... Do you really need a paper copy of this. Would it not be better filed in email folders?"
Please could you hint (if you can't say) what type of company this is.0 -
Our company has done several things like offering a holiday buy back system - basically unpaid extra holiday but works well for some eg school holidays etc, turning off lights when area's not in use - or movement sensor lights, turning down heating in unused area's, we have a new recycling initiative with recycling bins (essentially they no longer have a cleaner doing inv=dividual bins you have to sort your own rubbish!), when we went through redundancies about 4 years ago there was a whole load of stuff about duplication of processes across departments & getting rid of unnecessary workload they is done "just becuse" & working out more efficient ways of working.

I can't really go into what we do, but there is a LOT of printing and a LOT of computer equipment (servers, printers, laptops, processing machines) etc
Yep we shake the toners, recycle etc.. Just heard about this software package a while ago which could instantly save us £1k p/m, a good chunk of someones salary!0
