Need to return an item to Zavvi

I purchased a dvd box set from Zavvi just before xmas for 49.99, just found out I do not have disk 10 but have 2 disk 9's.

I pucrhased it in store at the Ipswich Zavvi, am I stuffed or should I be able to return if I can find a store still open?

I did pay on a credit card, can they help?

Often the publishers of music/DVDs/games have disc replacement policies - if you break a disc you can send it back and get it replaced. In this case, you may be able to use the same scheme. Try ringing the publisher

Have you still got a store near by? Call in or ring them, I'd suggest - they may just be able to swap you your extra disc 9 for a disc 10 if they have any of the box sets left. Or they may even do a straight swap for a new box?

If you happen upon a helpful cashier it shouldn't be a problem surely?

However, if there is no store or they refuse to do this, I'd also recommend as rl290 said, the next point of call will be the publisher.... Good luck either way and let us know how you get on!

I'd be quick they are shutting a load more.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

If you let us know what the box set is then I'm sure someone can re-inact the last one for you via the medium of internet forum, thus saving you the trouble of returning to the store.

PasturesNew is good at giving audio visual commentaries in this way.

Just in case it's one of the popular ones:

Sopranos: They all die in a storm of Italian stereotypes.
Lost: They all dissapear up their own bottoms due to pointlessness.
Sex and The City: They buy some more shoes. Again.
    24: Midnight happens.
Dallas: It was all a dream.
    Prison Break: They get out.

    Hope this helps.
  • You can take the DVD back and demand for either a refund or a replacement - under Sale of Goods Act the item has to be "as described" and obviously if the box says e.g. episodes 1 - 10 and the DVDs only have episodes 1-8, the item isn't as described.

    In short from Which? website:

"When you buy goods you enter into a contract with the seller of those goods. Under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 goods must be:
    • as described
    • of satisfactory quality, and
    • fit for purpose – this means both their everyday purpose, and also any specific purpose that you agreed with the seller (for example, if you specifically asked for a printer that would be compatible with your computer).
If you buy a product that has a problem because of one of these reasons, you can choose to 'reject' it: return it and get your money back."

AIUI, you can go to the manufacturer rather than the retailer.

Optimistic? I'd say before the summer.
