Found cheque dated 2000. Can I still cash it?

Most banks will not take a cheque dated older than 6 months - On the link you posted I think they mean that if for example poster was within 6 year period they could use the cheque as proof that the insurer owed her the money which she has yet to claim and could then get them to replace it.0
