Hi - my mums old video recorder blows all the fuses in the flat when she puts it on now ( the wall socket ones anyway ) - I know they are cheap enough to get hold of now - but she has only just recently got to grips with this one after several years !
Something internaly wrong with the unit I guess , if it wasnt to major I could fix it for her - any thoughts appreciatted - she really misses watching her old tapes !
Regards

I assume you've checked the plug wiring - that's about all you can do.
Wow! I'd make sure she never plugs it in again and get her a new one, as you say they are virtually given away now. What about a VHS/DVD combo, also available pretty cheaply now?0 -
Hi and thanks lolarentt - yes point taken about the safety side of it , but if it was something very minor I could just do it in half an hour ( she will never get to grips with a new unit in time ! )
the plug is ok and the fuse in the plug as well - I cant see why it dosent blow the plug fuse before the ones in the main fuse cabinet though - I thought that was the idea that the plug fuse popped first ?!

Do you have a low amp fuse in the plug? It'll blow the weakest link in the chain so if the plug fuse is a higher rating than the fusebox then the plug wont blow.0 -
Have you tried plugging in another appliance in the same socket. If the fuses again blow, it is a fault with the socket.0
