Kettle or Boiler - Cheapest?

Is it cheaper to boil the kettle 3 or 4 times to was the dishes or to put the hot water on for 1/2 hour to heat the tank?

  • I usually find one 1.7 litre kettle with equal cold water is plenty if you wash up in a washing up bowl (say 13" round) in the sink. Boiling the kettle uses about 1/3 unit of elec.

Yes, this is what I do, tho put the dishes in soak, outside in a covered bucket (with a dash of washing liquid), and wash 'em up twice a week. Once when I do the clothes washing and the tank is heated anyway and another when a kettle does the job, using filtered rainwater. Crockery is cheap as chips in the boot sales.
Perhaps not the way if you have a lot of greasy pans.
  • definatly the kettle although i wish i could get away with only washing up twice a week lol!
