I cannot believe the cheek of BT
For the past 8 months or so I have had my calls with SKY and my line rental still with BT, back in early december SKY offered me 12 months free line rental with them which I accepted and all was changed over 19th december and untill saturday I had, had no problems.
At some point last thursday or friday my phone number had somehow been changed, I didnt find this out untill saturday evening when I rang someone who then asked me if I changed my number, as the last 4 digits were now differant foolishly I didnt get onto sky on monday to find out what was going on and had still not got around to ringning them about it. Then today at somepoint late afternoon (it was working fine around 3pm) the 'new' phone number I had some how got would not work, and neither would my normal/old one, I then tried to make a call and got the message 'this number does not exsist' I treid redialling the number 3 times, although I knew I had dialled it correctly the first time and it wasn't a wrong number. I then tried to call 3 other people to test if my phone would let me call them and the same thing happened, so everytime I call out from my home phone I get a message saying 'the numb er doesn't exsist' very strange.
I got straight on the phone to Sky who didn't know why it would be happening, then when they looked into my account more said 'well your line isn't with us' after telling the lady that it certainly was as I had switched over in December she told me know we had a letter from BT at the beginning of January to cancel your line with us as you were now taking your line over with them (BT) at this point I was very shocked and confussed as I hadn't spoken to BT since my line got changed over and even if I had I would have firmly told them 'no, thank you' to their services, not even had any letters from them. So I don't know how they can take it upon themselves to just cancel my phone with Sky, after a very helpful lady at Sky doing what she could there was nothing they could do untill I have spoken to BT she then mentioned my broadband which I stated was also with Sky and she then hit me with another shock, 'no, thats been cancelled too' apparently this was cancelled on 2nd Feb though it is still working atm but this is because it can take upto 30 days to actually cut off and cancel, I asked if BT had kindly took it upon themselves to sign me up to their service for this aswell, apprently not this has been cancelled because the phone line associated with it has been terminted/cut-off. She tried to get this sorted and stop the cancellation but it wouldnt work as neither of us know what the telephone number now running through my home is, and when she put in my old number it came up with a message saying the line isn't connected anymore, which is also why they can't just switch my phone back to them either. So on top of the problems with my phone, my broadband service is now going to be disrupted and get cut off
By the time I got off the phone with Sky an hour later it was too late to ring BT, so now that has to wait untill tomorrow
After just doing a search on the internet i found out that ringing 17070 you can find out the telephone number on that line, its now a completely differant number again and doesn't accept incoming calls ( itreid ringing it)
On top of this I logged onto my old BT account online, thought I might be able to get some answers from that (I couldn't) but did find out that I had credit with them I didnt relise when my line rental moved over to Sky I was in credit with BT anyway there is a new bill on there and they have charged me for line rental for mid dec - mid feb £30, £4.50 (as I didn't pay by DD) and £2.75 for something to do with 1571 service and even with these whic have been credited (using the credit I didn't relise I had) i'm still £1.76 in credit.
Sorry for the long moan, but im really confussed with how this could even happen and very shocked & angry with BT for even doing it. I never heard of anything like this happening before.
