0870 608 1524 is National Grid not Xoserve .
Actually the company that provide the service for National Grid is called Xoserve and thats their telephone number, even though its displayed on National Grids Website.
http://www.xoserve.com/coreservices.asp#SPA
They manage the SPA for National Grid and other networks and are paid by them to run the service."Self trained industry expert who has worked in Electricty Distribution, Electricity & Gas Supply and currently works as an independent consultant in industry processes to particapants in the industry" :eek:0 -
I would not do any thing. in 10-15 years they will be no gas anyway.. wood burner will need to be installed.. if can not be assed to read your meter or find out if you got gas they should pay for it. If they do find out call trading standards and they will help you out. GF has same thing but she moved out of the house so good every thing for free.0

I'd be really careful about following CrashUk's advise, i have known suppliers catch up with people who moved out years ago after things like this. They claim you never let them know you moved in and land you with a large bill. Post your meter serial number on here and I will see what I can find if you want (access to a couple of websites
).

they should pay for it
Oh, you mean every other gas user in Britain.
OK, how does everyone feel about chucking me a couple of quid so I don't have to pay for my gas?
This isn't neccessarily the supplier's fault (as above, there may not even be a supplier yet). It is equally likely to be the developer/builder/network owner/meter operator/1st customer, and often one person or business can be two or more of that list.0 -
Hi I still have not had a gas bill, I do get my electricity from Eon and it was Eon (or whatever they were called 4 years ago) I called when I moved in. Do you think the energy company will be more lenient if I contact them, rather than waiting for them to knock on my door. I just found out chatting with neighbours about this, the people who lived next door to me did not pay gay for 6 years also, and when they moved out they were just charged for one years gas. Will the same happen to me ?0

Jubbs, can I send you a photo of my gas meter via e-mail ?0

What have you done about this situation since you started this thread over 18 months ago?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
But of course, you've been putting money aside every month in a savings account to pay the eventual bill for the last 18 months since you realised the situation, haven't you?
Just what any sensible person would do...No free lunch, and no free laptop0
