Not satisfied - Heritage bathroom furniture

Will keep this short as possible.

Three years ago we had a natural beech finish vanity and back to wall unit installed.
Over these years the finish lacquer has started to flake off.

THE UNITS FROM HERITAGE COME WITH A 5 YEAR GUARANTEE.

We had a guy from heritage to carry out a report, after several phone calls, emails, we eventually received the report five weeks later which at the time was promised a reply within 4 days.

The repoert states "the finish has been subjected to standing water and steam created by the shower over the length of time".

We have a extract fan which runs for a period of time evertime the light is switched on.

EXCUSE ME, BUT ANY BATHROOM FURNITURE WILL GET EXCESS WATER AND
STEAM WONT THEY OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. SURELEY THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO WITHSTAND THIS, THATS WHY THEY ARE CALLED BATHROOM FURNITURE...I AM MIFFED.
WE HAVE ALWAYS LOOKED AFTER THE UNITS AND CLEAN THEM DOWN EVERYDAY..

WHAT CAN WE DO?
HAVE WE GOT A RIGHT TO COMPLAIN, WE PAID GOOD MONEY AT THE TIME AND WAS RECOMMENDED BY THE BATHROOM SUPPLIER TO INSTALL THESE UNITS FOR QUALITY, ETC...

LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR ADVICE.

Maybe that's the problem - you need an independent report not a guy from Heritage. We had a problem with a kitchen years ago and we went to FIRA (independent inspection people to do with the furniture industry). IIRC we had to pay for the report and if it was proved there was a fault we got the inspection fee back.

The kitchen cupboards were proved to be faulty and we should have had the doors replaced; however that particular one had been discontinued so we had a refund of most of the cost of the kitchen.

I don't have a contact number but if you google you will find them.

I think they are probably right.I don't think wood does withstand water and steam,so it's wear and tear.I expect itis one of those useless guarentees that is actually more about defective workmanship. I could be wrong though.

To complain to Fira, they have to be a member of fira.
    Are they a uk company?

If wood does not withstand a bit of water and steam, WHY MAKE BATHROOM FURNITURE AND GIVE IT A 5 YEAR GUARANTEE.

SURELY, WE HAVE A RIGHT TO MAKE A COMPLAINT, OR HAVE WE
THESE UNITS WERE VERY EXPENSIVE, AND NOT FIT FOR THE PURPOSE..

  • Did you get this resolved with Heritage Bathrooms as I have the same issue with a beech finish vanity and back to wall unit and bath panel?

When I contacted the bathroom supplier, who I purchased these items from, I got the response "Heritage are rejecting the claim that the damage is due to a manufacturing fault and is the result of excess moisture or misuse. Please could you consider these factors as lack of adequate ventilation in your bathroom can result in wood furniture becoming ‘soaked’."
