underfloor heating to replace a radiator???
Comments

Electric is 3x the price of gas so will cost significantly less to run a wet system. On the other hand electric underfloor heating is a lot cheaper to install.
Wet underfloor heating under floor boards does not work very well. You will either need to install spreader plates or put the pipes in a very weak sand/cement mix. Add to that the 100mm of celodex/kingspan needed to stop the heatloss the floor will need to come up.
Electric may be more expensive to run but you will never payback the higher installation costs of a wet system.
If it was me I would install a plinth heater run of the central heating.0 -
Thanks everyone for the replies, to answer the general questions raised here.
I wanted a CH based system because I didn't want to mess around with several different thermostats and heating systems. I originally thought underfloor because the kitchen will be tiled and I hate cold floors + the cost of electric put me off. However, the complexities involved in an underfloor CH system are also off putting....so.....
I've opted for a plinth radiator, getting underfloor installed off the CH is too troublesome and I don't want electric for the reasons stated above. Hopefully this solution will work out as this wasn't something I was even aware of when I started.0
