My car value

Getting ready for my OR interview. In court Monday so I guess it wone't be long after that. Parkers have the same car as mine(same year but half the mileage mine has done) on sale for about £3,500. I'm going to say mine is worth 2,750 due to the higher mileage (101000 miles). Will the OR wear it? Any ideas?

Have you had a look on parkers guide this is what the OR seem to use and do you need car for work, our car was worth £3,500 on autotrader same yr model etc, but on parker guide said £2150 so they took that figure and car was exempt as my hubby needs this to get to work

Yes my value is based on cars in Parkers website. I need mine to get to work too as sometimes I have be in at 5.30 am (normal start time is 7.00am) and also I sometimes go to depots in other counties for holiday cover.

I put mine was worth £2750, could have got £3500 for a private sale at the time. No questions asked.

Its too close to call and you need it for work so with this in mind most OR's ignore it. I am guessing its a bit of a paperwork nightmare.

Hi my car is worth approx £750. I am not working at the moment, but I use the car to take my husband back and to , to work as he does'nt drive. I have my OR interview on 17th Feb. On my BR day 3rd Feb 2009, I had a call from the OR secretary. I asked her about my car, she asked if it was roadworthy. I said it was off the road at the mo because brakes need doing. She then said that it would'nt be exempt. It would either be taken awy and crushed, or a third party could buy it. She then asked is it taxed mot and insured. I said yes, so she then said that it is classed as roadworthy. I am so confused as to what to say to the OR when he phones me up.

You tell the OR why you "need" to keep the car rather than "want" to keep if that makes sense?

Because the car is taxed & MOT even at £750 it could still be seized as an asset...but if you put up good enough reasons who knows what the OR will do...

Thanks. it is so confusing when it comes to cars. Dont know whether to get brakes fixed or not until I know if we are able to keep it.

I was under the impression that if it was below a certain value (£2500 has been mentioned on this forum I think) that the OR isn't really bothered.
