Recycling Storage Heaters

I'm in the process of installing central heating in our house and this involves removing three modern storage heaters which were only installed a couple of years ago (at the cost of £1000). I'm loathed just to throw them away, so does anyone know of anywhere I can have them recycled, or alternatively does anyone want to take them off my hands?

Hello shorts
Welcome to the MSE site.
As a new member of the site, you probably aren't aware that we're not allowed to offer goods for sale or swapping etc. Martin has asked Board Guides to show the following statement...........but I hope you see it as a gentle reminder, not a telling off.;)
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
Kind Regards
Nile

The British Heart Foundation is one of the few charities who will take electrical goods.
Suggest you give your nearest shop a call.
Alternatively you could make a nice garden feature out of the bricks!!That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
If you would like to give them to a good home, then try http://www.freecycle.org/ where you can advertise for someone local to collect and take them off your hands.0

Nile: My mistake, I completely understand, it won't happen again...
Penryhn: I'll try the BHF thanks, I guess if I can't recycle them the bricks will end up as a BBQ.
Annie: I've done the freecycle thing, if that fails I was hoping someone might know of a company/charity which would pass them on to some worthy cause. I phoned around but none of the companies supplying storage heaters has a return policy, I wonder how many are thrown away every year?0 -
Watch the bricks or surrounding material don't contain asbestos.0
