Just to add that Paypal card can be loaded directly from Ebay paypal at no charge...that means if you sell anything then you can transfer the funds straight onto the card at no cost ( takes 24 hours) .
So if you are a seller then no need to involve the Bank at all if you want to withdraw the money!! Paypal card does charge £2 for cash (whatever the amount) at cash machines so if you need cash better to draw larger amounts rather than lots of small ones.

I have applied for one .... I am going to give Barclays a miss after the negative reports on here recently and use the card to save my holiday and presents budget - if I am allowed one (holiday and presents , not card!)

Funny you should say that tigerfeet. Bless them, my Housing Association are doing a real drive at the moment trying to reach out to people in debt and they have teamed up with a Credit Union offering accounts.
They are also doing CAB surgeries which can only be a good thing nowadays.
I just might do that.......

I have never had problems with my Electron being accepted, I've had one for about 8 years now. At first there were acouple of shops that wouldn't take it, but everywhere I have been locally and in town accept it and never any problems until the Tesco incident (long story), three years ago. It is more widely accepted than Amex now!startagain wrote: »Well, you have all persuaded me.... I am absolutely paranoid about my Electron card being refused somewhere when I am at the front of a long queue! Ugh!
I am going to get a Paypal card and carry a smallish amount on it for "emergencies" ... can't bear the thought of having to endure not being able to pay.

I'm struggling to be convinced by the pre-paid cards because the charges mount up so quickly. Top-up and useage fees, in some cases are stupidly high.
I love my Electron and my son has just switched to it because ryanair & easy jet don't charge transactoin fees for it, now £10 per flight (£20 return).LBM:FEB 2008

Hi
I have looked into the cash plus mastercard VERY throughly. Last May I completed paying off my IVA = total of £38000 in debt I was at the age of 24. Now I am 29 and debt free - completley learned my lesson, and thought that this idea of a pre-paid mastercard was good as it helps you with your credit rating. HOWEVER, I read the terms and conditions again and again, (just so I know what I am doing) and then rang the customer services, as I was confused, as they said they dont check youyr credt rating, BUT in the terms and conditions they say they may need to. The guy at customer services was very very rude, and in fact he cut me off - I am assuming its because I saw a flaw in their so-called ideal pre-paid credt card to boost your credt score. I think its all rubbish, and will continue to deal in cash, unless anyone can explain to me, how they say they don't check your creit file, but in the terms and conditions it states they may!!!
ThanksFaye
