Anyone using one of these, and which is the best to get? Just planning ahead. Found out today that Tesco Pay@the Pumps do not accept Electron or Solo cards. They used but not any more so I think I need to get PP Credit Card.

Word of warning on a prepaid card. I have one and they are great but you do pay charges. If you get petrol from a filling station on one of these cards the card company take whatever the max petrol amount -£60 at Tesco- off the card and then refund the amount not spent days later. My friend actually bought £15 of petrol and had £60 taken off and a week later refunded the £45. Money Talks ...but all mine ever says is Goodbye! :rolleyes:0

That's naughty. I may as well spend the £60 on diesel. that would last me about 2 months!"What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

That's interesting. Does the Co-op card work at Tescos? I often like to get fuel before the kiosk opens. But the new pumps reject the Solo card."What does not kill you makes you stronger"0

I have a Cash Plus card on the pay per transaction tariff. Its free to top up at the Post Office(some cards charge) and they charge you 99p per transaction. You can change to the other tariff if you use the card a lot and pay 4.99 per month and then all transactions are free. You can use it anywhere that you see the Mastercard sign. Its a good card and you can manage your account online0

I too have a cashplus card, with me having a co op account with online banking I can transfer money to it using the bill payments section, however I transfered cash to it on saturday and still not showed up... im hoping tomorrow otherwise I will be phoning them!
When i searched for pre pay credit card on the net I came up with a lovely company who offered me a credit card...
"bankrupt? no banks in UK or europe will have you!! however we can offer you a credit card with a £2000 limit!! all you have to do is send us a deposit for £2000 then we will send you a card" think they were based in nigeria... does anyone fall for this? :rolleyes:0 -
Hi - both me & DH have the Paypal Top up Card, which is a Visa. You don't need to have a Paypal account to get one, but if you top up by using your paypal account, then there is no charge.
Other methods of top up on this card are either by Pay Point or Post Office, which they charge £1 for this method.
No charges for UK purchases, but charges for use when abroad, and withdrawing money from ATM. And NO monthly charges either.
Only £4.95 to set up, and card is valid for 2 years, which they then charge you another £4.95 for replacement card!!
If you are looking to get one of these, do your Homework, as these cards differ so much on the fees and charges.0 -
Just a note on the transfer on the Paypal card, is that if you top up by Pay Point, then money is instantly in your account, but other 2 methods, it takes 1 working day for money to show in your account.0
