Do I need business cover?

A question for the experts:
I am purchasing a new motorbike and the dealer that's giving me a good price is located very close to a customer of mine.
Normally I would travel to my customer by car (for which I have business insurance).
However on this occasion I am considering arriving by train and then getting a taxi to the dealers for the purpose of picking up the motorbike to ride it home.
Will I need business insurance for this?
Will the fact that the journey is broken make a difference? i.e. I'm not leaving my customer premises, I'm leaving the dealers for the purpose of collecting the bike.
My own interpretation is that the second leg of the journey is social/domestic & pleasure but I am also getting home from my customer so it's kind of dual purpose.
Paying for the extra insurance is not the end of the world, but I need to factor it into my purchasing decision as it may affect where I buy the motorcycle.
Thanks in advance for anyone takling the time to read/answer.

Isnt the wording something like travelling to and from ONE place is s,d&p , so as your details will not be the same that day as the day before or after i would have thought you would need it
Just an opinion mind you , ive had a long day and could have read it wrong

Not 100% sure but I suspect a reasonable person would say - journey to customers premises (train and taxi) = business trip. Once you leave the customer to go to the dealers and then home, you are effectively on a domestic trip (though I suspect it will also be Pleasure as well - new bike etc) - so business cover would not be needed.0

Techinically it is classed as business use, an insurer normally covers you for Social Domestic and Pleasure use plus commuting to and from THE SAME place of work. This would need class one business use which is as above but also include "Use iin connection with your business or profession" (Sometime you may need a higher business use if your appointments are not pre arranged).
I would suggest you just ring your Insurers as if it is a one off and in the unusual circumstances they will probably happy to cover it as a one off.0 -

Normally on SDP including commuting it is to a single and permanent place of work (which this would NOT be).
But, because there are 2 legs to the journey then I would not be travelling from the customers premises.
I would be travelling from the dealers garage to home.
If I wasn't going there on business I would still have to travel there and back to get the bike, I'm just combining it with a business trip.
Ultimately I guess the answer is "phone your insurer".
What I might try to do is claim the business mileage as expenses and pay for the extra insurance out of that, but this will depend on getting a decent single fare.
If the single fare is as much as the return then my employer might not like the arrangement, if I can get an advance fare and it's a decent price then they won't care if I go there by hot air balloon.0
