Egg Cashback

Is there anything to watch out for when using https://www.egg.com/cashback and when does the cashback appear on your statement?

  • Normally, you have to have accrued at least £5 of cashback annually before Egg pay up. The cashback year runs from September to August and Egg credit it to the account that you pay your direct debit from.

However, I see from your link that they are offering double cashback this month on Virgin Wines which will be credited to your card straight away (regardless of value, I think) rather than it being added to your annual total.

When I used to use egg for cashback (before the rate dropped), I used to get a credit into my bank account in Sept.

Bear in mind that the Egg cashback rate is only 0.1% - five times lower than most other cashback cards. To earn £5 cashback will therefore take £5000 worth of spending.
    Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000
    Mortgage July 2007 - £0
Original Mortgage Termination Date - Nov 2018
    Mortgage Interest saved - £63790.60
    ISA Profit since Jan 1st 2015 - 98.2% (updated 1 Dec 2020)
  • Bear in mind that the Egg cashback rate is only 0.1%

It's 0.1% on Egg green but 0.5% on Egg blue.

You can always boost your cashback, though, by buying something from one of their cashback partners. (These offers change so you'll need to check the current deals on the Egg website.)

Also with all cashback cards if you cancel them before the date they pay the cashback they WON'T give you anything.

While it seems an obvious point people often complain when it happens.
  • I've used the Egg Cashback double points twice in the last month, both times the money was credited immediately. No catches, just have to use the link from their website.
Worth keeping the card just for those CDwow purchases (£1 voucher plus 5% cashback).
Plus if you don't use the card for a few months they offer £10 credit when you spend £50.
