    I don't think it's meant just for schools, but children are their primary target. Although I got the message saying they'd send the school pack, the confirmation email talks about planting "in your garden, window garden, patch of unused ground, or flower pot" Surely they wouldn't want to restrict a campaign to save bees anyway?

    Thanks op :)

    Maybe this is meant just for schools? What do you think?

    No isn't just for schools - don't worry. It's just so they know how much stuff to send out - confirmation e-mail specifies:

    'This education pack can be used in class, or at home, and is packed full of hands-on activities. You will also receive the free sunflower or wild flower seeds by post shortly after. The amount of seeds you receive will be based on the number of people you are applying for. The seeds will be dispatched while stocks last. '

    Really, really great post makoshir. Thanks. Most importantly bees (and nature chain e.g. pollination of crops) have been in crisis & should help !!!!!!!! but lovely to have more flowers around as well plus great fun & inpsiration for children/families to plant & grow plus encourages real awareness of environment & its balance - thanks so much for posting !!!

    i like bees, they make honey.
    Now wasps............ they are a whole different story! What do they even do apart from eat wood and sting you!

    If we didn't have the "nasty" insects, we would never get rid of the stuff we see as "rubbish" - dead wood, dead animals, etc. Even the unpleasant ones have a place in the chain of life.

    But, we NEED bees more than most other things.

  • Thanks for this...looking forward to growing my own friendly bees :-)

    Thanks, I'm so glad my 1st post has been so well received.
  • What a great idea! I've registered for mine!
    Blagged: free samples of handwash from Molton Brown; booklet of walks from Brecon Carreg;
    Free Diabetes monitor, free bee-friendly seeds, a MINI coin and a splash-proof book from Radox.:T
  • I'm a hopeless gardener and the neighbours keep complaining about the state of it so I keep telling them I'm keeping it unkempt to attract the wildlife (partially true!)

    I have been looking into planting some bee-friendly plants but wasn't sure where to start, so this has come at the ideal moment.:T

    Cheers, Makoshr :A

    I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
