On growing garlic......it is easy! You can use shop bought garlic (split in to cloves & pop in a hole just covering point) but you do not tend to get big bulbs or sometimes get just one clove. You are better off getting a single strain like from a farm shop or garlic farm. They are easy to grow...they will grow in just soil & because they grow up and not down (techno talk) they can be grown in tubs etc for a patio!!

Off topic a bit but I'm taking the opportunity to ask someone who sounds like they've grown garlic before... I grew some garlic that I bought from a garden centre, but when I eventually dug it up, it hadn't separated into garlic cloves - the bulb looked kind of like a massive spring onion. Still tasted like garlic, just looked pretty odd. Any idea what I did wrong?
Thanks!0 -

What do you mean 'almost'?
To Slick Detective etc. You would need to get some fresh garlic for growing purposes - this has been fermented.:kisses2:

I was reading in the 'Families' magazine today about growing your own garlic, just take one clove, pointy bit at the top and plant in compost (can do this now, and they dont mind the cold weather apparently) and come spring, and as if by magic - a whole clove of garlic or 3! (depending on cloves planted obviously)
Nothing stopping us trying it with this black gear I guess, esp if what they say is true and its much better for you.
Free garlic in abundance then eh
Thanks Lorweld.
Its not a different species by the look of it, it's just aged garlic....run of the mill garlic....fermented. So to grow it you just grow natural garlic and age it..I guess...Black Garlic is aged natural Garlic.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

I think I'll stick with the ordinary white garlic, also looks like a small company which will be inundated with requests for free samples and then may regret offering them!
On growing garlic, just plant a clove in a pot, and months later a bulb of garlic has grown, maybe a bit smaller than shop ones, but it's your own produce!0
