  • I recently agreed to purchase the supply and fit of a kitchen via a sole trader who was operating from some nearby premises. I gave the trader a cheque for £1,600.00 for the purchase of the of the materials which he was due to fit in a few weeks time. On passing the premises yesterday I noticed a sign on the doors of his premises saying that bailiffs had seized the property. I have only ever had the telephone number and address of the premises the trader was operating from and so now I'm unable to contact him to find out what is happening. The bailiff have told me that they were instructed due to non-payment of rent. Now I don't know where I stand with regard to getting my money back or having the kitchen fitted. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

  • Hiya,

I'm looking for advice on how to find out the name of the administrator for a company. Manning Logistics collected a piece of furniture for us (just days before they went into administration, it seems). However, I've no idea where to look to find out who their administrator is.

Their website is unchanged, and there's been no response to e-mails/letters. Their phoneline rangout for a while, but now is unobtainable.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received as we'd rather like our property back.

  • Hi
I'm looking for some advice. The company my husband rents his driving instructor car from (ADI Car Rentals) has gone into administration. The administrators are saying they will collect the car within 3 weeks and others are reporting they are being given 2 days notice. Does anyone know what our rights are in such a situation?
    thanks
  • Hi there,
I have a gift card for Habitat, do you know if I can still use it??
It's just I don't live near a shop so would need to travel to get to one and wouldn't want to bother if they can turn round and say I can't use it (as they did in Focus DIY recently with a discount card).
    Many thanks

i know someone who had habitat gift cards and they were able to use them at the weekend just gone at their local store (manchester). might be worth giving your nearest store a ring to check if they are accepting them still.
  • We paid a deposit to Dolphin just over two weeks ago. As we paid by credit card, I understand that we can get our money back and have already spoken with the credit card company about this.

My question is, does going into administration effectively cancel the contract, or if Dolphin is sold will we be obliged to let the new owners fulfil the contract?

The reason for asking is that we don't really want to wait, but I am concerned about instructing anyone else if there is any risk that I am going to have to let Dolphin fulfil the contract!

    Any help gratefully received.

    Hi,

My girlfriend and I have received our Kitchen through Moben just before they've gone into administration. This means while we have received the goods (I'm hoping it's all there) we won't receive the service part of our contract, as in it being fitted. I'm wondering where we stand as far as claiming through the Visa Chargeback scheme as we have paid the deposit through one Visa debit card and the final amount through another.

The other option is that Moben's self employed fitter contacted me in reference to fitting the kitchen at further cost and I therefore wonder if there is way to claim this cost back, if chargeback scheme won't apply.
  • Hello,

I bought a dolphin bathroom and got it fitted in February this year. All the parts and fitting came with a guarantee and this week my shower has become faulty. Does anyone know where I stand with the guarantee now or who I should contact?

All the phone numbers I have for Dolphin are disconnected (including the one on this site) and I don't know where to turn. I assume it's a bad idea to ask an independant plumber to take a look in case it negates the guarantee.

And also- I bought the bathroom on credit which I'm still paying. Part of what i'm paying for is the guarantee so if this is now void, could I threaten to withold payment?
    Thank you
    Hayley
