Can Anyone Recommend A Cheap Car Insurer?!

For info I have a ten year old car (have owned it since new), 75,500 miles, I'm 37 and have 6 years protected no claims and the cheapest quote I can get is £279 via an insurance broker. I've tried the comparison sites and the cheapest was £282 (Sheila's Wheels) but with a high excess.

Can anyone recommend a good Insurer where I won't get such a high quote for such an old car (and driver!).

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

I take it thats fully comp ?
I would have thought that 23.25 per month is a good deal , its not the age of YOUR car so much as the potential damage your car can do if it hits a decent one , no offence

Were both 31 , 9 years no claims and pay about the same , my missus uses for work so is at £26 im at £23 we use Admiral

Have you tried adding other drivers on legitimately, that may never touch the car, it may help in lowering the cost. My £1200 car insurance came tumbling down to £600 by adding two people who will use the car only once or twice!
  • Hi

I just bought Car Insurance last night.

I found on Quidco, that Zurich Insurance, who are a good insurance firm will give £80 cash back providing the Insurance is not cancelled etc.
You dont get the £80 back until all monies have been paid. I paid for the year and it stated you would get the cash back in four months.

My cover included legal, breakdown, windscreen and protected no claims.

It was £30 dearer than the comparison sites but I would be getting the £80 cash back. It's a bit of a gamble (cashback wise)I guess but I am positive about it.

    Good luck

I bought insurance last week through Swiftcover (never had a problem with them) and it was £170 and there was money back through Quidco.

Try them for a quote, they were far cheaper than all other companies for me.

I'm 34 and was insuring a 9 month old car which has cover for some business use.

I always choose a £300 voluntary excess though
  • Personally I would recomment Kwik Fit Car insurance. Not knowing your personal cirumumstance, the average quote is £277. Only £5 less than your Sheila's wheels one, but you can get a quote online and get an accurate one. Check this site if you need more convincing.
