Hi everyone I am new to this forum..
I want to know if someone can give me an accurate information about Sky line.
Sky have offered to install a new line to my property since I do not have a BT line
going into the property. Sky will install the line for free if I take their talk bundle and
pay line rental to them. Which is fine by me.
What I want to know is:
1) The line sky will install is it a BT line or Sky Line?
2) After 12 months conract ended with sky can I use the line on other services like BT line on LLU?
3) If Sky install the line will the line be on BT exchange or Sky Exchange?
Ultimately who is responsible/own the line? BT or Sky?
I want to know if someone can give me an accurate information about Sky line.

1) It will be a BT OpenReach line, if there are any faults, you call Sky, who raise a case to send a BT Openreach engineer to fix the line.
2) Yes
3) Sky Equipment in the BT exchange
All 3 are based on my limited knowledge of course but that seems the general response
Do you also need to take up SkyTV to take advantage of this offer?£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -

Yes to get the discount I have to take the Sky TV package which I already have
ordered. Just couldnt decide on the other packages as I was not sure about the
line sky will install at the property.
So can you answer the fourth question:
Ultimately who is responsible or own the line? BT or Sky?0 -
If you're paying line rental to Sky, Sky is responsible.
However, they are not allowed to touch the line and have to task (and pay) Openreach if any work needs doing. There's a possibility that that might discourage them hurrying to deal with any fault reports.
The line is always owned by Openreach.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks Heins for your reply. So infact after end of contract with Sky. I can do anything
I want on the line in terms of changing to other service providers or phone providers
with out Sky claiming they own the line? So basically anyone can jump into the line?0 -
That should be the way it works!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. One thing to add, on question 3, at the moment it is BT wholesale the line rental.
But at the second half of 2009, Sky will start unbundling the voice calls.0 -

Okay I been given a date for the engineer to come and install the line.
Just want to know what the engineer will do to get the line to the house.
Will they take a cable feed from the pole outside and feed it in to the house?
Can someone explain to me what they'll likely to do?0
