Nightmare… I have a virus on my PC again!! When on the internet adverts are popping up in new windows for screensavers and various other junk I don’t want. Then after about 5 mins my whole computer crashes and I have to reboot. As you can imagine this is very annoying.
I have McAfee Anti Virus + Firewall, Adaware and Spyware Blaster. I have run the Anti Virus and it is not detecting any virus.
I have found these 2 links in my Spyware Blaster ‘accepted’ browser page file and I am not sure what they are for and if I have ever ‘accepted’ these files at all? (PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THEM INCASE THEY ARE THE VIRUS??!)
http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchasst.htm
http://ie.search.msn.com/{SUB_RFC1766}/srchasst/srchcust.htm
Are these likely to be the cause of the problem and if so how do I remove from the list of accepted pages in Spyware Blaster, please.
My problems appear to have worsend since I removed a desktop icon for ‘Casino on Net’ via add or remove programmes in My Computer.
Can anyone please suggest a course of action remove this annoying virus.
Many thanks

I'm not too sure on your specific problem, but maybe try downloading SpyBot S&D, that usually picks up the stuff that adaware misses. I'm not sure on Spyware Blaster as I have never used it.
Also, I take it all your virus & spyware definitions are up to date?0 -
thx have just downloaded spybot - it picked up Hitbox and NicTecnetworks.Zestyfind as two probs on the computer. So i went to fix problems and removed them... Rebooted the computer and re-run Spybot and they appeared again! So it would appear they are embedded in my start up files somewhere - can anyone help me remove them please.

Have you read the sticky thread at the top of this forum for Malware/Spyware removal Have you turned off system restore before scanning?0

I will have a look at this thx. Can anyone tell me if the 2 links I have listed in my original post are likely to be virus or are they OK???????????

the links you found on SpywareBlaster look legit... nothing wrong with them. i think CWshredder will do the job... not 100% sure thou... try it out http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html
if not, get MicrosoftAnti-Spyware, update and do a full system scan.0 -
check if its stuck in your system restore folder: turn system restore off and do a full scan in safe mode. i had a nightmare once when i knew i had a virus but virus scanner wouldnt detect it and when it did it removed it only to come back again, turned out it was in the system restore folder.Fr. Stack: While you were out, I got the keys to your car. And drove it into a big wall. And if you don't like it, tough. I've had my fun, and that's all that matters.0
