Canon MP210 Printer - scanner will not work

Hi All,
Bought a Canon MP210 Printer about 1 year ago. The photocopy facility works on it and it prints. However it will not scan a document into the PC. I have tried downloading the drivers from Canon site on many occasions but still can't get it to scan.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Only paid £20 for it on a cashback deal and currently thinking of buying a new one as it is driving me mad!

Thanks in advance for any help

Explaining what happens when you try to scan would help.

How are you trying to scan the documents? I think our printer is a MP210 and we've never have had a problem scanning with it. Are you using the MP Navigator software or something else?

    Hi Bill,
Literally nothing happens. I click the scan button and nothing, no lights on the printer, nothing pops up on the screen on my pc, it is almost as though there is no scanner!

I just lay them flat on the scanner (on the glass obv) and click scan.

OK, I'm not at home at the moment but is this a scan button on the printer on in software?

Is the computer turned on when you try and use the scan button as it needs to be?

What version of Windows are you using?

Has the scan function ever worked?

Do you have the MP Navigator EX software installed as all the Scan Button does is launch that software?

A box pops up which says at the top:

    CANON MP210 ser

    SCAN button

Select the programme to launch for this action:

Except there are no programmes to select, the box is empty
