Advice on internet prcie booking query (price increase 500euros)

Bit of advice please guys,

I was trying to book a hotel (sol Mirlos/Tordos in Majorca) on Saturday evening
over the internet
I'll try and keep this brief
the hotel chain was offering a discount of 20% off the price, this ran out on Saturday
so I checked out the date& price however there was no option to add a child to this price. so I phoned the hotel phone line bearing in mind the people I was talking to where Spanish, so the language barrier was a slight issue
I explained the problem and was advised of a price far higher and including the child
however .
bearing in mind the internet price was far cheaper I was advised to book the internet price/offer (minus the child) and call back at a later date to add the child on
bearing in mind the language barrier/difficulties I called back and spoke to someone else, then I was advised the same

here is where the problems start

From Saturday evening, then on Sunday morning as well as Sunday evening the web site would not let me book on line, I tried 2 different c/cards, both of which have been used on the hotel site before all attempts where unsuccessful, all had a Alerta.A0711 message
I sent off a email to Sol on Sunday evening stating all my problems and that no doubt the price will be going up shortly etc and how i had been trying for so long to book online

as expected on the Monday I called the Sol hotline again explaining what had happened and how now all of a sudden the price had gone up
the best price the woman could come up with was 500 euro's more

I explained my problems over the weekend and that I had saved a copy of the web page with the price on etc
I also explained that I had been advised to book online by your staff twice (but was unable to) through no fault of mine

I have sent off a email explaining my problems/gripes and requesting they honour the original price ( and not the 500 euros extra)

any advice assistance on where I stand or what i can do would be appreciated, thanks in advance

Not sure that you will get them to honour the original price. A number of accommodation only companies in the UK currently have sales on with 20% or more off their prices. You may find that you can book the same with a UK based company for a lower price.

Engadine, Thanks for your response, have got a pleasant surprise
just checked a site (not really used it before either) Travel Republic
was pleasantly surprised at the price

can you (or anyone else) recommend any other sites to check for this particular hotel
    Sol Mirlos/Tordos

I have always booked direct through Solmelia in the past assuming they where the cheapest

There are a number of companies that you could try including

ww.hotels4u.com and www.medhotels.com both are now owned by Thomas Cook. Med Hotels have early booking discounts for Sol Melia Hotels.

    www.hotelopia.co.uk is also pretty good.

I work for an accommodation only company but just checked and we don't feature those hotels, we do have quite a few Sol Melia but not those ones.

Booking direct with a hotel company is not always the cheapest option, it is worth shopping around.

Thanks for the tips, must admit have always booked with solmelia direct, in the past it has worked out cheaper, have been to this hotel for the last 2 years and its quite surprising how many people book it direct

Looks like travel republic will be hard to beat, but now having found cheaper than Solmelia and after my experiences over the weekend Solmelia can shove it
I'm taking my custom else where

    Thanks again:money::money::money:

You are welcome, happy to help.

If you go through Quidco you can save a bit more

Hotelopia currently offering 12% and there are normally some discount codes around for them. Hotels4U is currently 7.5%

It is well worth it, I have just had £250 back from them, in total I have had nearly £1,000. Sometimes it is only a pound or two but it all mounts up
