My S/S kitchen sink is ruined!

OK so it's my fault for being stupid/careless.
I used Harpic to clean a particularly stubborn stain on the kitchen tiling, and I smeared the sink with quite a bit of it while working. When I realised, I just wiped it off, but now the steel is all discoloured and looks REALLY HORRIBLE.
Have a go at me if you feel like it, as I fully deserve it, but can you also tell me if there is anything I can do to brighten up the steel again? Pleeeease?

Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

Hi dopey!!
Right, in Asda they do a product called (hang on I'll go and have a look) Shiny sinks by homecare (it's in a blue plastic bottle, costs about £2). You rub this stuff on with kitchen roll, and rub it off the same - need to use a lot of elbow. Works amazingly well on the most wierdest of marks - and .... makes it lovely and shiny again!!
Good luck

Would it be worth making a claim on your house insurance?0

Here it is, around £1.50 for this

290ml bottle.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
I use this too.. your sink will be like new. Just make sure it gets a good shake first as there can be quite a lot of settlement at the bottom of the bottle if it's been standing for a while. Us ehti on my S/S Cooker & Hood every ow and then to keep them looking nice.HLK

My thoughts exactly! Worth a go isn't it???
I've got a stainless steel American f/f - E cloth not working so well now
. I don't want to make it look worse but wondering if that stuff is any good for cleaning huge areas of s/s?? 0 -
Another thing that's really brilliant is Barkeeper's Friend - DH introduced me to it. It used to be available only to people in the trade, but you can buy it in John Lewis and Waitrose (and maybe other places?) now - it cleans ANYTHING (well, more or less) and is brilliant for discoloured s/s, burnt saucepans etc
£1.99 a pop last time I bought it. Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

£1.46 at Wilkinsons0 -
Shiny sinks is the best stuff ever for S/S and it smells absolutely Gooorgeous....or is that just me!
For other non-shiny metal that is tarnished try scotchbrite(?) from B & Q -comes in a sheet which can be cut up is a maroon/brownish colour. Can be used wet or dry.
I use it on the steel pan rests on my cooker and it brings them up like new - DO NOT USE ON SHINY METAL - AS IT WILL SCRATCH0
