Setanta Sports - warning!

..just phoned up Setanta TV in Sunderland & asked them to cancel my £10.99 6 months contract that I stupidly taken out yesterday (forgetting that 3 months of it was when there's no footie!) Searched the OFT website & found you're entitled to a cooling off period of 7 days where you can cancel under the distance selling law. However Setanta TV claim that they're governed by Luxembourg law as it states in the T&C's & it doesn't apply to them even though their call centre is in Sunderland & I'm in Gateshead

THEY'RE NOT GOING TO GET AWAY WITH THAT!

Contacted the OFT told them my story & he claims I have a good case against them & he's sending me a template letter to fill in! So I'm going to fill it in today & fire it off to they're Newry address tomorrow RECORDED delivery!

DON'T FALL IN THE SAME TRAP!

I would not worry too much, as ESPN are going to get the Premiersh1t and then Setanta will be bust.

Update:- Rang setanta back up informing them of my rights under the distance selling law 2000 & they're still doing didly squat! So the nice people at my local trading standards will be giving them a phone call either today or tomorrow! They say I've a good case & I've also just checked royal mail to see if my letter was sent recorded delivery & it has!
