5k?! That's not all that much in the grand scheme of things. You could save that much by negotiating hard on the purchase?
For a purchase costing you hundreds of thousands of pounds I'd say 5k is a drop in the ocean.0 -
i must admit, even though i would never do this, i am so tempted to get a friend of mine to go and view it and do the same thing. the sellerrs are pensioners and rarely out so i couldnt go and view it. its immoral but also it would look highly suspect that after a year of no offers, suddenly 2 come along within a week of each other!!
Yeah, especially 2 with the same name.....;)0 -

well exept that i would have to accept that it comes with lots of work and that equals money, applying for a brand new mortgage with a new lender, arrangements fees with a new fixed rate (i wouldnt take anything other than a fixed).
it depends, if we have a look around for more properties and dont see anything, then its always in the back of my mind and i dont think she will get a buyer soon, apparently she was offered a cash price of 120 but is holding out for 160+. I know from one estate agent (she has it on with 9) that its been on the market for 3 years, she started off at 300k!!!!!0 -
9 estate agents?! Crazy!0

They probably will bite your hand off eventually. Go look at other houses (force yourself) and go quiet a bit. You have the upper hand here. So few houses are selling they are being really unrealistic to expect close to asking. They should have come back with a counter offer if they were serious sellers. Good luck! Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

yes we viewed one yesterday, have 6 next weekend and i went sniffing around today in the area, different roads and such like.
i know i shouldnt but im just wishing and praying that she changes her mind and takes our full and final offer of 155 which she rejected yesterday apparently. the estate agent said he was disappointed because he thought it was a 'cracking offer' and she wouldnt get any more.
have you noticed how estate agents often using the word 'cracking'. i think it sounds strange from young men who are almost young enough to be my sons!! its either a cracking property, or a cracking buy etc etc,
perhaps its because they are cracking up0 -
I wouldnt worry in the slightest about the flying freehold, they are mortgagable easily with the right lenders, and its very common on old cottages in kent and East Sussex, I have sold hundreds of properties with FF, with mortgages.Pawpurrs x0

oh my goodness, what is wrong with me, i cannot stop thinking about the property we offered on and got turned down.
i am turning into a property stalker. i went and sniffed around it again on sunday (from the outside, wasnt seen) and today i have been on the phone checking up on planning permission and building regs approval for the works she did to the property (kitchen extension, removal of load bearing wall, bathroom down stairs etc)
i cant stop thinking about the things that i would want to do to the property if we ended up buying it (despite being rejected) and thought that i would just check that all the right approvals were in place for the work she did, JUST IN CASE, i decided to offer more.
so, local council said that no planning (she might not have needed this) or building reg approval had ever been issued to the property.
so, my thoughts aobut possibly offering a bit higher on it have changed again,,, what would it mean to try and buy a property that doesnt have building regs on changes that the previous owner did???
Theres no hip for the property i think as it went on the market before they HAD to be there0
