Depends what tariff they were quoting you. Best thing to do is check out the individual websites so you can make an informed decision.

Try the 'Switch with Which' website, as they are supposed to be impartial. Input your KWH usage not price paid - a full year if you have it, average of less if that's all you know. It's not a great time to get tied in to any utility company as it's expected many of the companies will be reducing prices after BG did so.

    Hi

It all depends which tariff best suits your needs. All the suppliers offer different products with various benefits or restrictions.

Discount is usually available for paying with a Fixed Direct Debit or managing your account online.

I would suggest you do a comparison check on one of the independent websites.

Whichever tariff you choose check there are no tie-ins. A few suppliers are adding restrictions if you leave before the contract ends.

Are there tie-ins with the Npower product you recently signed up for?

When you change supplier there is always a 14 day Cooling Off period where you can change your mind. This is an industry wide requirement.

If your new product has tie-ins and the 14 days have expired you may have a difficulty switching.

The competitive nature of the market means prices are constantly changing. You can sign up with one supplier and a short time later another will bring out a tariff with better prices.

As well as the prices always look at the terms of the tariff. Make sure you are aware of all the restrictions and benefits.
