I'm sure I have read of people claiming back charges for missed direct debits. Why not post your question on that thread. dchurch seems to be the expert on the subject, but may not read this particular thread.0 -
With regards to the car, have you thought of getting a moped instead? If not, are you buying the cheapest petrol? Check out

Cheers m8, checked out that site, most stations about here are all 87.9p. As for a moped, nah, just don't think that me and moped would go, I carry alot of gear in my car etc.
Sold a few things on ebay, plus my xbox so a good total of £110 ! but then there is postage ah blah blah blah with all that, so maybe about £80-£90 !Feb 06 *****Highest Debt*****

Right still up, but I was just having a look through the forum and I remembered I took out payment protection on my loan which costs £200 !
I have the papers here I think I was meant to sign and send back but have yet to do this, and I don't make my first repayment until March.
So I'm wondering if the payment protection is worth it, or if it is, are there any cheaper deals out there.
Cheers !

Instead of phoning each other why dont you wait till you get home and talk on msn messenger?
That way you can cut down on the bill
Sounds like an expensive GF to me

I personally never take out payment protection and see it as another way for the banks to extract more. I also view extended cover on appliances, and insurance in case of ill health or unemployment as money down the drain as you hear so many cases of them not paying out when you claim due to there being so many exclusion clauses, and always covering the things that are most likely to happen!CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420

I'm in a long distance relationship. I know how important texting and phoning is!
We do a combination of messenger when he has access to the internet and phoning when he doesn't. And we text LOADS.
I had an O2 phone and once my contact was up, I cancelled it and kept my phone. I then got a "SIM only" contract with O2. They are doing a double text and phone deal at the moment.
You can get 1000 texts and something like 800 free minutes for only £25. The catch is the minutes are off peak only (double check what this means - I think it's after 7pm and any time weekends) and ONLY to landlines and other O2 phones.
But you can get a pay as you go sim card for you gf very cheap or even free so you can phone her.
I convinced my bloke to switch phone contracts.
Pay off CC debt by Xmas 2017 #095 £0 of £11,416 :eek:0 -
Thanks, I seen tha o2 deal today, however I have 3 more months on my current account with O2.
My plan of attack is to try and hit my credit card, its got £800 on it at 12.9%. While doing this I'll try to calm down my overdraft - £750 - aswell.
I think the loan is affordable just now, and I think if i just pay the £150 a month it should be fine for now.
So, try for at least £25 a week towards credit card !Feb 06 *****Highest Debt*****

Pressleyno1 wrote:Hmmmm, what can be claimed back with this bankchanrgeshell.com ?
I'be been charged quite a bit for not having sufficient funds in my account to cover direct debits. Also late credit card payments, and un authorised overdrafts. Quite a bit, I wanna know more on this and how much it would cost me,
It will cost you the price of a letter and a stamp. There is no charge to visit the site https://www.bankchargeshell.co.uk and read up on why these charges are illegal. The bank have pickpocketed your account and now is the time to reclaim their ill gotten gains. All it takes is a change of mindset and some determination.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. Hi, thought I'd just post a quick update on my financial situation.
Bills....
Car payment - Still £147 a month,
Mobile Phone - Changed to lowest O2 deal, as I have 2 more months until I can cancel. I can also get a free phone upgrade at this point, so a quick question. Can I get my free phone upgrade, then cancel my contract, thus allowing me to sell a brand new phone ? Anyway, the o2 deal was at £40+ a month, now with T-mobile, £26 for a better deal, and a brand new phone.
HSA Health plan - £13 a month, still with this, just don't know if its worth keeping, used it once to recieve £24 back from dental bills.
Car payment protection - £10 a month, Is this really worth it, is there any other type of protection against a car payment plan ?
Loan - £157 a month... I've paid my first payment, however, still no reply from the bank after sending a letter of complaint asking for my payment protection to be cancelled, which costs £300 for 18 months, if I never took it then I'd save around £30 a month.
Internet - £17.99 a month, not looked at cheaper deals yet, is it too much hassle ?
Car Insurance - £65 a month, the best deal I'll ever get at my age. If I keep my nose clean it will go down again.
I was paying £20 digs, now reduced to £10, doesn't feel too good doing that, but its better than nothing I suppose. I'll sort them out when I win the lottery.
Had £800 on my credit card, 9 months 0%, but done stupid things and paid mim payments all the time. Learn from my mistakes, and have paid of £350 in about 2 months, so got £450 to go, hopefully another 2 months. Set the card on fire, and cut it up. Can't wait to pay it off, and I never want a credit card again.
Going to less away games than I did, at the football...
Start a new evening job 15th of May, with Sky, 6-11pm at night, so its gonna be work work work, get paid monthly. Should give me a good boost, and around an extra £500 a month + free healt care, so thres a saving, and after 12 weeks, free sky + !
I really hope I can manage the 2 jobs, to allow me to pay my debts of a bit quicker. Not going any summer holidays, and how it works, is in the summer I'll get 3 weeks wages at once, but I'll also work through my holidays I can take, so I'll basically just get 2 weeks pay for nout. Complicated, but very good. something like £900 in 2 weeks, sooooooooo my target to be debt free by end of the summer could be a reality.
Still not started on my overdraft, but I wanna focus on credit card first, then once thats down to about £200 set up a direct debit on it to pay £25 a week, thus repairing my credit rating, and letting me try getting out of my overdraft !
So much for a quick update.
Advice always welcome...
