London to Milan £99 return for 2 people!!

Lufthansa are operating a new direct route between London Heathrow and Milan Malpensa. To promote the new route they are advertising a promotional fare of £99 return for 2 people travelling together. For a full service carrier that is a great price for 1 person but is an absolute steel for 2!!

Anyone fancy a long weekend in Milan?

Their web site does claim that their return fares to Europe begin at 49 pounds inclusive, but I have never managed to find one.

Malpensa is a long way out of town (perhaps an hour), but great if you are hiring a car and don't want to tangle with the traffic.

...their clain is actually 49 pounds ONEWAY. I got one about 3 weeks ago but they wanted a huge amount for the return trip so I came back with easyjet. The 49 one way fares seem to be available if you can book a long time in advance or are flying when demand is low
  • Malpensa isn't too bad. There is a direct train into central Milan (I lived there when there was only a coach service which was a pain) but it is direct. You can also change onto the line for Lake Como if you fancy going up to the lakes.

I assume the flight will go into the new terminal unlike Easyjet so the train station is under ther terminal and easy to use.

  • My wife has travelled to Milan recently on Ryanair (Bergamo) for 2p return. Yes you read that right - 2p. She had to use an electron card to do it.

Even without that as an absurd example I would consider £49.50 return as quite expensive with Ryanair. Even after adding the check in baggage, etc. we can normally find flights where she can travel at most for around £35 return.

ag120 you need to get out more.
