in Credit cards
I had a lloyds Tsb credit card around 4 years ago. I ran into debt with lloyds around 3 years ago because my ex fiance knew where i kept the card (incase of emergancies) and he maxed it out with online purchases. I left him (he was an alcoholic with an anger problem) and then i started receiving letters saying i owed money etc. I had only used the card once and that was to buy a washing machine and then paid it off in full the next month. Anyway long story short i finally paid the remainder of the money off in Oct 2008- around £6000 later!!!
Long and short of it is I want to apply for a credit card but purely for emergancies. This time i will not let it out of my sight!! I have no balance to transfer and would pay any amounts in full. I have checked my credit rating with experian and i'm boardline of good/excellent. (that was at the end of nov)
I bank with A&L (current account) and Barclays (ISA) but dont know which card to apply for as so many out there.
Any help is much appreciated!!!!!!
Thanks x

The fact that you eventually paid off your debt is excellent.

I hope you soon get the card you want.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -

MBNA (who run the A&L credit card) would be an option, as PROLIANT suggested. Barclaycard have been getting less then prefect customer service comments on here recently (at least in my perception). But pretty much any of the mainstream cards.
If you were going to use it a bit more then emergencies and still pay it off each month, one of the cashback cards would probably be a good choice. The Amex rate is good, but the card isn't accepted everywhere, which can be a bit of a pain.
I know Lloyds were talking about charging people with cards they never or rarely use. I don't know if they started doing this, but might be one to avoid. I don't know if anyone else does.0 -
