Recipient refused delivery!

Last week I sold a used item on Ebay on a Buy-It-Now or Best Offer.

Postage was for 48 hour courier with £100 insurance included. The item is worth less.

The buyer paid by Paypal and I sent the item by DHL via FreightSearch. I emailed the buyer the parcel tracking number.

I thought the parcel would reach the seller on Saturday but it didn't. I've just checked the DHL website and it says for Monday "Recipient refused delivery".

I've looked on Ebay but there is no message from the buyer, no feedback either. The item was well packaged but perhaps it arrived damaged? Or could DHL have been asking for a postal surcharge?

I always pack well and weigh acurately.

Could the purchaser simply have changed her mind?

Anyone been in this sort of situation? Advice appreciated!

  • have you messaged her to see why?

maybe she wasn't in and her husband was sick of her spending money and told parcel man to sling it.. or she lives with her old mum who didn't want to sign for something.

Or maybe nobody was home so they tried to deliver to a neighbour, who refused to take it in?

Contact your buyer and let them know you have tracked the item but it appears not to have been delivered, they may be able to shed some light on the reason why.

Thanks to both of you. I have messaged my buyer and got her message back.

Despite DHL marking it as "recipient refused delivery" it is actually because the Gatwick depot is shut due to the snow so they did no deliveries yesterday or today. My buyer makes a friendly remark about the country grinding to a halt and thanks me for checking and she will let me know when they deliver.

    Panic over!:o

you will probably find DHL donty have a tracking resolution for that scenario
so they will use another tracking resolution to retain the track
otherwise it looks like its hit a deadend and they most likely get pulled for a failure
