Does anyone know or use a reliable bread maker. I have a morphy richards 'fastbake' that has broken for the 2nd time in a year with the same fault. The mechanism to turn the paddle/mixer has siezed up completely. I was given a new one under guarrentee last summer from the store but I don't want another morphy richards, and returning the current one is nigh on impossible as we are now 300 miles from the store we bought it from. It is not as if we use it excessively, aprox 5 loaves a week.

About avoiding getting one that leaves a hole in the middle of the bread, and the dispenser.

My first BM was the Kenwood BM200, which lasted me over 6 years before starting to play up. It was used every day.
Not sure what they're like now, but if they're still built like that it'll easily go the distance.
However, my Panasonic SD255 is holding up pretty well - 2 years old now and used almost daily with no problems at all. Solidly built and well worth paying the extra.

We have a Panasonic that has been in regular service for at least 8 years now. Only problem is that we can't remove paddle from spindle, but that is just a mild inconvenience.0

I have had the Panasonic SD-253 for years and it has always made great bread. It came top in reviews at the time as well. It doesn't have a viewing window on the top like others do, but that is suppose to help the baking process. :dance:0

Another vote for the SD-253 here. Expensive but worth it.0 -
